Project Overview

Tata Power Solar commissioned 50 MW AC / 65 MWp DC solar PV plant at Kasaragod Solar Park, Kerala. Approximately 1,65,149 Multi Crystalline Solar modules were used in the project. For smooth processing of the installation, 16 Inverters (rating 3.125 MW) and 4 Inverter Duty Transformers (rating - 12.5 MVA) have been used at the project site. The completion of this project has been an important milestone in our vision to promote solar at every stage in the country. Through this project, the company continues to demonstrate its strong project development, engineering and execution capabilities. Solar has immense potential in our country and this project acts as a benchmark for EPC work.

Challenges

Located on a hilly terrain with highly undulated land and laterite soil, the project has had some unique challenges.

The work had to initially face the heat from the Covid-19 Pandemic induced lockdown. Restriction for inter-state movement of men, materials and equipment due to lockdown had caused deferrals.

Moreover, movement of module containers in heavy monsoon season, poor internal road conditions for movement of Ajax, DTH, Module movement were some of the other major challenges faced by Tata Power Solar while developing the project.

However, with technical advancement, deep domain expertise and vast experience of early commissioning of EPC projects, Tata Power Solar completed the project work before the stipulated time.

Solution

Tata Power Solar has solely designed, engineered, procured and commissioned the project and will undertake comprehensive operation and maintenance of the plant for 10 years. The plant is expected to generate about 101 MUs of energy annually.

Tata Power Solar also distributed masks and created awareness at the project site on Covid-19 pandemic by undertaking trainings, complied with the SOPs issued by both the state and central governments.
