Tata Power Solar commissions India’s largest solar project under DCR for NTPC 16th August, 2016

100MW project commissioned using domestically manufactured cells and modules

Bengaluru, India; 16August, 2016: Tata Power Solar,India’s largest integrated solar company, has successfully commissioned a 100 MW solar project forNTPCin Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Aligning with the Government’s ‘Make in India’ mission, this is thebiggestsolar project commissioned using domestically manufactured solar cells and modules. Theplant is expected to generate nearly160million units (kWh) of energy per year and help offset approximately 110,000 tonnes of CO2 in the first year.

Tata Power Solar delivered the project in record 80%ofstipulated timelines, and nearly 3 months ahead of the stringent schedule.Key highlights of the project werethe innovative design ofBalance-of-System (BoS) and cabling, along with optimized selection of evacuation systems.

Speaking on the project, Ashish Khanna, ED & CEO, Tata Power Solar, said, “Today,pace of delivery and quality have become crucialbenchmarks in the industry andwe are especially proud to have delivered a project of this scale in record time. Bybringing together our core strengthsin domestic manufacturing andEPC services overthe last 25 years, this 100 MW plant is the largest project commissioned by us to date. Built over a 500 acre site, the land contained natural streams and hillocks which were untouched by the plant to maintain the natural ecosystem. World-class safety being the company’s strength, Tata Power Solar delivered the plant with arobust safety management system and 1.3million safeman hoursput in. Apart from a highly experienced team at Tata Power Solar, more than 50 local people were provided employment at the site.

Mr. A.K. Jha, Director (Technical), NTPC said, “Given our ambitious target for green power, we were aware that our requirement of rigorous timelines and cost-efficiency was a challenging one. We thank Tata Power Solar for their experience and commitment in delivering this large scale project ahead of strict timelines.”

With over 25 years of experience, Tata Power Solar has commissioned over 250MW of ground-mount utility scale projects across India. Their partnership with NTPC too has been long-term, having delivered their50MW flagship projectusing domestically made cells and modules in Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh in 2014.
