Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited and a leading player in India’s renewable energy sector, developed a landmark 431 MWp DC solar power project at Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh. This large-scale development represents a significant step forward in advancing the country’s renewable energy capacity and low-carbon infrastructure.
A key technical highlight is the use of a combination of single-axis trackers and bifacial glass to glass modules, enabling better solar yield by tracking the sun’s movement and capturing reflected light from the ground, thereby increasing the efficiency by at least 15%. The project was executed under the “Solutions for Power Producer” category and completed within a span of 17 months.
This colossal and cutting-edge project boasts the capacity to generate close to 9 crore units of electricity-enough to meet the energy needs of around 95% of Indore, and stands as an example of scale and technological prowess driving the region’s sustainable power future.
The installation spans 2,000 acres and incorporates 765,408 bifacial glass-to-glass solar modules. The plant has been designed with a DC capacity of 431 MWp and an AC output of 330 MW, optimized for high-efficiency energy conversion and system performance.
The project marks a significant step in India’s energy transition, enabling clean electricity supply to Western Central Railways and Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL). It is expected to offset 7,80,300 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, supporting India’s commitment to achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
The Neemuch solar project further strengthens TPREL’s leadership in delivering high-performance renewable energy solutions for India’s low-carbon future.
