Tata Power Renewables’ 411 MWp Solar Plant at Banipura, Bikaner Powers the New Energy Era 20th February, 2025
  • Supplies power to the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL)

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a leading player in India’s renewable energy sector and a subsidiary of Tata Power has developed the Banipura Solar Power Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, which represents a significant milestone in India’s renewable energy journey. Commissioned on 27th March 2024, this project highlights TPREL’s unwavering commitment to delivering innovative renewable energy solutions that address the nation’s growing energy needs while preserving environmental balance.

The plant caters to the requirement of the Bikaner city by supplying 411 MWp DC to PGCIL’s Bikaner 2 station.

The project has a total capacity of 300 MW AC (411 MW DC), consisting of two units—100 MW AC (134 MW DC) and 200 MW AC (277 MW DC). It utilizes bifacial glass-to-glass solar modules, designed to increase efficiency and optimize power generation.

The energy produced from the Banipura Solar Power Project is supplied to the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), contributing to the nation’s clean energy supply and supporting grid stability.

A significant sustainability achievement of the Banipura project is its annual CO₂ offset of 5.6 lakh tons CO₂e, further underscoring TPREL’s role in combating climate change and promoting a greener future.

This project is an important step in line with India’s target to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, further reinforcing TPREL’s role in advancing renewable energy in the country.
